FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the things food businesses ask us most — including the one about guarantees.
What is the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS)?
The FHRS is run by the Food Standards Agency and your local authority. After an inspection, your business is given a rating from 0 to 5 based on hygienic food handling, the condition and cleanliness of the premises, and how well you manage and record food safety. The rating is published publicly and, in some nations, must be displayed.
Can you guarantee I will get 5 stars?
No honest consultant can guarantee a rating, because only your local Environmental Health Officer awards it. What we can do is make sure you are genuinely inspection ready and addressing exactly what officers assess, which is what gives you the best possible chance.
How soon can I be reinspected after a poor rating?
You can usually request a re-rating visit once you have made the required improvements, often after a set period from your last inspection. Rules vary by local authority, so we will help you understand your options and make sure the improvements are in place first.
How much does it cost?
Every business is different, so support is quoted individually rather than from a fixed price list. Get in touch with a little detail about your premises and what you are aiming for, and we will recommend the right approach and a clear quote.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Derby and cover the wider Midlands as standard, with travel across the rest of the UK where it makes sense. If you are unsure, just ask.
Is my enquiry confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept confidential and used only to help you. There is no obligation and no pressure, just clear next steps.
Do you only help businesses with low ratings?
Not at all. We help businesses chasing a first 5, protecting an existing one, or simply wanting a calm second opinion before an inspection.
